Cooking With Ex Fat Girl (lesson number 1)

One of my goals for 2011 was to conquer the kitchen! To cook all types of different things and leave people happy and asking for more.

My first meal was baked ziti with meatballs and a side of garlic bread.

The garlic bread was def the easiest of all three. All I had to do was remove it from the bag and pop it in the oven. Easy Breezy!

To cook pasta and add cheese + sauce doesn't take a rocket scientist but too much of this and too much of that can make anything a disaster.

Making the meatballs was fun! (not really, I don't like the feeling of raw meat between my fingers yuck! I suppose I will get used to that) with the meat balls I was afraid of burning them and didn't give them enough of that good ol'stove loving.

Overall I would rate my first experience (taste, presentation, etc) a 6.5.
It wasn't very "healthy" either which is something I want to get into the habit as my chef career takes off.

Anyways who cares what I have to say, let's see what those who actually ate my food had to say (I catered to a group of 4 people) Mariacantswim says:
"Meatballs on point, but the ziti so good I want more...pass the bread"

Guess she liked it!

Next time I'll try whole wheat pasta, any tips on making this dish even yummier as well keeping it healthy!

Next meal I am going for Steak + Shrimp with some Potatoes (any recipe of either three would be greatly appreciated)
